Craftsmen Developers, a land development firm headquartered in Glen Burnie, announces that The Christopher Companies, Oakton, Virginia, will build 23 townhomes in its Wharton’s Bluff “Parcel B” townhouse community on Indian River in Millsboro, Del.
According to W. Dennis Gilligan, president and CEO of Craftsmen, groundbreaking on the model townhouse is scheduled for September and the sales office to be open by early 2013. The Christopher Company townhouses are expected to be priced in the $190,000 range.
“We are excited about working with The Christopher Companies who has an excellent reputation for its quality residential homes as well as its commitment to respecting the environment,” Gilligan said. “The Christopher Companies townhomes complete our Wharton’s Bluff development and I’m confident that the people who purchase them will be delighted to be a part of this special community.”
The townhomes will offer a choice of first or second floor master suites, screened porches, decks or patios. Additionally, each townhouse will include a garage and full basement as well as a maintenance free exterior.
“Wharton’s Bluff is a well established community and the remaining waterfront home sites are among the most beautiful we’ve seen in the area. As one of NAHB’s 2011 10 Green Building Partners, we look forward to introducing our innovative floor plans, designed to take advantage of the views of the beautiful Indian River,” said W. Craig Havenner, president of The Christopher Companies. “We are excited about the prospect of building our energy efficient, green certified homes in a green certified community for the first time!”
The Wharton’s Bluff townhouse community, with a total of 133 homes when completed, features walking trails, playground, a community swimming pool and pool house, a gazebo and direct access to the water from a crabbing and fishing pier and a nature preserve located at the tip of a peninsula. Phase 1 of Wharton’s Bluff is fully developed with the majority of these 84 homes and townhouses now occupied. Phase 2 or “Parcel B” will have 49 waterfront townhomes when completed.
Craftsmen Developers earned a 4-star Green Land Certification from the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) Research Center for Wharton’ Bluff, Parcel B”, the first such certification on the East Coast and only the fourth nationwide. Earlier this year it was awarded its second 4-star certification for its single family community, Coldwater Reserve, in Severn, Md.
